With the introduction of Apple iPhone 4S and its newest iOS version 5, came the new voice assistant Siri. The exclusive iPhone 4S voice assistant didn?t hold back and quickly became quite popular amongst the users of iPhone. The technology has already caused iPhone data usage to double as compared to the previous generation of iPhones. The doubled data usage has caused the firm Arieso to maintain the iPhone 4S data to come under great pressure for operators.
In an interview, the chief technology officer of Arieso said that the voice is the greatest interface humans have ever come across. The technology forces even the simplest of users to use the functions of their smartphone more often than they would on a non voice command phone. Arieso is also providing advice to clients such as Telefonica and Vodafone.
The voice assistant was brought to iPhone in its latest version that was updated in October 2011. The assistant allows users to take advantage of a lot of functions of iPhone 4S by simply using their voice. With just a few words spoken, a user can get Siri to compose text messages, schedule important meetings and even check the weather. According to Arieso, which is based in Atlanta, there are about 1 million plus subscribers within a single network in Europe.
More data usage may quickly strain the networks, leaving network operators in sheer pressure. The largest carrier in the U.S, Verizon Wireless, confirmed that the number of iPhone?s purchased through the carrier has doubled in the last quarter to 4.2 million. Network load has already caused quite a lot of problems with other carriers. In 2011, AT&T lost rights in the U.S to exclusively sell iPhones due to the complaints of bad network performance in heavy usage areas such as San Francisco and New York.
The iPhone 4S has become the best selling device for Apple after its iPhone 4. This is also the first major release the company made after Steve Jobs passed away. Steve Jobs was in charge of providing guidance to the company for its marketing and design.
