News Summary: Refinery fire to boost gas prices

PUMP PAIN: Analysts say a fire at one of the country's biggest oil refineries will contribute to higher prices at the pump on the West Coast. Gas prices will soon average more than $4 per gallon.

UP IN SMOKE: The fire at the Chevron refinery near San Francisco sent plumes of black smoke over the Bay area and put scores of people in hospitals with breathing problems before it was extinguished.

FIRE BEFORE: A fire at the refinery in January 2007 injured two workers and spewed low levels of sulfur dioxide and other toxins into the air.
