Business presentation is an effective method of presenting your ideas, plans, tactics and views to a group of people. It is a way to convince clients to close a deal or to purchase your products. It enables you to convince executives and management people to approve a specific project. Because of its significance and efficacy, it is the medium used not only by executives, sales personnel and management people, but also students, teachers and politicians.
Whether you are neophyte or experience presenter, it can be a stressful and uncomfortable experience because most often you become nervous and lost for words when you are in front of a group of people. Delivering and developing presentations are conventional and learned skill. All you have to do is to learn the technique and practice to gain credibility and competency as a business presenter.
Before you start planning and outlining your business presentation, you have to ask the following questions to help you achieve an effective presentation:
* What is the purpose of the presentation?
* Who will attend the event and how many?
* What is in store for you if you present it effectively?
* How will you present your idea?
* What vital information is needed to support your purpose?
* Where is the venue?
* What equipment are needed to make your presentation persuading and effective?
Techniques in making an effective presentation:
* Never forget to arrive ahead of your audience to give you time to prepare all your needs.
* During presentation, never forget to use key phrases and to include only vital information. You have to present top three or four issues about your topic and be sure to be consistent throughout the presentation. You should limit the number of words and use only three bullet points per slide.
* Make sure to put a title on top of every slide to ensure that your audience can easily follow them. Avoid using technical and hard to understand words and phrases.
* Avoid using too much punctuation and avoid using all capitalize letters in you slides because it is difficult to read and sounds like you are shouting to them.
* Never use a fancy font. Select easy to read and simple fonts, like Verdana, Arial or Times New * Roman. Keep them large enough to be read. Fonts should be at least 24 points and 30 points.
* Never forget to have eye contact with audience and speak clearly.
* When you are nervous, take a deep breath to get enough air and to ease your tension and panic.
* Use contrasting colors for your background and text. You should limit the number of slides to avoid distractions.
* Use graphs, charts and photographs to add variety, to keep your audience interested and to make your presentation more persuasive. Avoid using animations and excessive slide transitions.
* Always ensure that your presentation can run on any type of computer.
